CPHFW SS26: Det Kongelig Akademi is the The Royal Danish Academy

Hej Fashionistas,
The Royal Danish Academy of Design unveiled their graduation projects at the Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026. The show took place in the space that originally housed the printing press for the Danish national newspaper and is now a post event space, PRESSEN. Each design from this show was so much fun to look at and explore over and over again. I tried my best to narrow it down and it came down to my top 10 favorite designs. Check them out below!
Polka dots are trending again and their are everywhere, even here! The first image on the left is the best of polka dots, in a nice white and grey contrast, and a strawberry fruit roll-up being unrolled over the model’s body. Love this design! Also, can we talk about the wispy blond hair like design layering the model’s shoes? What a fun surprise! The second image on the right is absolutely the new “Lady in Red” with a ruched elastic top hat design that stacks out in front of the model’s torso while her limbs extend out elegantly around in the stretched fire engine red material. Does the red material go over the shoes or are the shoes matching in color and texture? I want to say it’s the former but I can’t tell and it’s fun to image both options.
Let’s check out my favorite baggy designs below:
I’m naming the third design I picked, pictured above on the far left, Black Windbreaker, but I of course cannot say this was the intention behind the design. It’s a black cape that gathers up above the model’s left hip and has design like a light rain coat or windbreaker. Underneath there is a sheer blue dress and the model is wearing matching baby blue fashion sneakers. It has a lovely early morning walk in the park at down vibe to it.
Pin-stripped & Puffed: this look is pictured second and it’s short and sexy with the puffy oversized pinstripe coat over the short pinstripe shorts that have sheer lace-design cut-off tights underneath (garter belt vibes!) and a black tube top to match above them. With the black heels to match, I would wear this any day.
Grey & Red Layers: this look is another wear any day look for me. I love the loose structure of the grey slacks that gather into a diagonal bow above the left hip and the contrasting tight red tube top over black stilettos as well. Simple and full of definition and dimension.
Gathered Red Cocktail: this last look in this row, pictured on the far right, is one of the most layered and defined cocktail dress designs I have seen. The red material is layered on a slight diagonal and underneath you see a slight change in color of what looks like a baby pink under dress. This was paired with black loafers. Keep it comfy and let the dress speak the loudest! Super cute!
Let’s check out the last four favorites I picked below:
The last four picks are all so different and don’t follow a theme like the last four I picked. Shall we?
Cotton Candy Bonnet on the far left is a fun hooded corset top where the top is attached in the fashion of a bonnet. It’s very dainty. The rolled down grey slacks and the green sandals with sheer white tights bring the design forward into a more mixed modern look.
Grey & Stringy is pictured second and it’s exactly that. I love the torn strings falling off and around the model’s entire body down to the legs and her feet. I also really like the structured design by the model’s right shoulder that drapes off of the right hand.
Wrapped Leather: I love how the brown leather is wrapped around the front and gathers up the model’s chest like a leaf or petal on his torso and left shoulder covering the open design of this leather coat. It comes so high up that it grazes his jaw bone. Beautifully structured, this design. This is paired over black shorts (silk or satin, I believe) and wide black leather riding boots.
Hooded Red Robe: this one was my final pick. A hooded red robe-like tunic dress with baggy sleeves and high slits up the thigh. The silver detail and the soft furry texture of the material are an extra nice touch to this elegant design. Just as the model does, this design demands to be worn with a lot of attitude and confidence.
I hope you enjoyed my favorite picks from the Baum und Pferdgarten Spring/Summer 2026 collection from this season of Copenhagen Fashion Week!
